How to Upgrade Your Instagram Story
Recently, Instagram Stories have become so popular and users are posting more stories than actual photos to their grid. With them becoming so widely used and viewed, it’s important to keep them interesting. Nobody is going to continue to watch your story if it’s boring. With the recent mute feature some of you may be seeing a decrease in your story view count. We’re here to give you a few dos and don’ts on how to amp up your Instagram stories.
Don’t post just to post. Ask yourself, “What is the value of this post? Will people find this interesting?” When watching stories, we’re sure you’ve all noticed meaningless ones that you quickly click through. Make sure what you’re posting is engaging and going to want to make people continue to check out your story.
Do keep your content consistent. Just like using the same filter on your grid is important, try and keep your stories the same. Try to use the same fonts, colors and filters. If you post one story with the Typewriter font, don’t post another immediately after with Neon. If you want to switch it up, make sure you’re doing it in an aesthetically pleasing way.
Do get creative with apps. Head to the App Store and download the FREE apps “PicPlayPost,” and “Adobe Spark Post.” These apps will help you get your creative juices flowing. Play around with them and see what you can create. These two apps are some that we use every day for our personal and business accounts.
Don’t over post. You know that one person who posts all too frequently at the same event? Yeah, we do too. We tend to click through these or swipe left and onto the next person’s story. Keep your followers updated with your stories, but don’t over share. Since stories are already so over-populated, try and not add to that. We know it can be exciting to share every song from the live concert you’re attending, but truth is not everyone cares.
Do watch other stories. Stay updated on what other people are posting. What do you like? What do you not like? What catches your interest? These things are important on keeping you your stories in check. Sometimes, someone will post something similar to you and you don’t find it appealing. Well, remember that next time you want to post something similar.
