Why You Need a Business Card

Think business cards are outdated? Think again. People nowadays think that connecting with someone on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram or exchanging numbers is the equivalent to handing someone a business card; however, it’s far from it. When you swap personal information with someone digitally it’s impersonal. Engaging in eye contact and giving someone your information is how relationships and connections are made in the business world.

A business card is something physical that can easily be shared. Your business card is your company’s word-of-mouth. When you exchange your phone number or email via text or LinkedIn, it ends there; whereas, when you give someone your card that person is likely to show it to other prospects and/or potential clients. This acts as a marketing tool for you because business cards have no downtime!

Something important to keep in mind is just like a handshake is a first impression, so is a business card. Your business card determines whether or not someone will be intrigued and/or impressed by your brand. The details truly matter. You don’t want your brand associated with the word cheap, so be sure to take the time to get them done properly and if you have to spend a few extra bucks it is definitely worth it. You want to make a memorable first impression!

Make sure your business card matches all of your business branding. Though it may be small, it is a part of your marketing tools. The design should convey your company’s culture and should be well-recognized just like your logo!

With that being said, business cards also provide a sense of authenticity. All large companies provide their employees with business cards and people are well-aware of that. Even if you have a small business, it’s definitely worth getting them. If your company doesn’t have them, you should act on it and create cards for you and your fellow colleagues. Business cards show that you have reputable and authentic company.
