You may not realize it, but every time you tweet, advertise, write a blog, comment on social media, you are expressing your brand voice. If you’re not careful, over time you can collect a variety of different voices and tones can lead to an inconsistent voice. Especially with larger companies, maintaining a consistent brand voice is crucial to help distinguish your business from every other brand. Identify Your Audience
Identifying your audience is key first step in understanding how to best present your brand voice. You may have multiple target audiences and this is ok, too! Try and find a common theme between them by asking questions. What do they think about your product, company and industry? What do they expect from your service? Recognizing your audiences wants and needs can help ensure your voice will be effective.
Describe Your Brand
Your opinion is important! Brainstorm a list of adjectives that you think define your brand and company culture. Ask your employees and coworkers to do the same and compare notes. If there are any overlapping words and or ideas, use them to help craft your voice. Create a chart that identifies characteristics of your company, descriptions, as well as do’s and don’ts. For example:
