Create a Custom Location for Instagram!

How to Get a Custom Location Tag for Your Instagram!

It’s time to start tagging y’all—say goodbye to those moments of wondering how your favorite Instagrammer managed to get a cute customized location tag above their post.

Follow these 5 steps to add credibility to your account and give your followers another element to engage with, by creating location tags that are specific to your latest post.

Step One: Make sure your location services within the Facebook Mobile App is turned on. If your location services are turned off you will not be able to create a new custom location.

Step Two: Create a Facebook Check-in status update. Do this by signing into your Facebook app and begin creating a check-in status update. Click on the location icon which should then show a selection menu of nearby locations.

Step Three: Tap the search box and type in the custom location title as you’d like it to appear on Instagram.

NOTE: The first letter of your custom location must be capitalized and you can’t use symbols like # and @ or emojis 😣.

Step Four: Double check your spelling then tap the “Add” button.

-You will then be promoted to “Choose a Category” NOTE: “Just for fun” is the easiest choice, if you choose “Home” as the category, it will ask for additional info and may tie it to your Facebook profile.

-Facebook will then ask you to “Choose a Location”. The simplest thing to do is to tap the “I’m here right now” button but if you’d rather not have your current location tied to your custom location you can search for another location and select that instead.

-After you’ve selected a location you can tap the “Create” button in the upper right hand corner (iOS) which will add your custom location to the Facebook database.

Step Five: Create a new post and tap “Add Location”. Type your custom location title into the search box—then select and you’re all set!
